Rice mill owners to stop paddy procurement, latest news, kerala, agri news,

Kochi: All Kerala Rice Mill Owners Association (AKRA) has informed that its members will stop paddy procurement to mark their protest against the state government. The decision was taken in the meeting held by the AKRA members after the discussion of its representatives with the government. According to the association, the promises made by the government over the last six years remain unfulfilled.

Meanwhile, the association pointed out that the civil supplies minister and finance minister have been continuing to say “will favourably look into the matter”.

Even those requests pertaining to major concerns remain unaddressed, the association alleged.

The association has been urging the government to proactively intervene in matters including the distribution of Rs 15 crore for processing the paddy, which happened way back before Kerala Floods 2018.
