Remote working resources have transformed the way the economy functions by allowing companies of all sizes to continue operations no matter where employees are working from.
According to Ajay Mittal, IBM’s chief digital officer and director, small and medium businesses were already making the transition to adopt cloud services prior to the pandemic, but it has become even more essential as companies look to strengthen their IT infrastructure.
“The new workplace will build on the platforms for remote work and increase agility and efficiency through multi-cloud management,” said Mittal. “This will lead to a shift from a traditional services model to self-help/self-healing tools in which automation will play a highly critical role.”

Throughout the lockdown, IBM offered SMBs access to remote working environments, including IBM Cloud Virtual Server and is currently offering free 90-day access to its collaboration tool IBM Aspera.
“For auto and manufacturing industries, we offer solution approaches like workplace and worker safety, touch-less retail, supply chain agility and data security,” said Mittal. “Cyber security threats related to data, device, applications and remote-managing SOCs (security operations centre) can be done with our offers on IBM’s security solutions.”
