Rape victim Mia Döring to publish memoir detailing sexual exploitation issues | Ireland

A woman who was raped at the age of 16, but did not speak out about it for 12 months, is publishing a memoir next year detailing her story and the issues surrounding sexual exploitation in Ireland.

In Any Girl Mia Döring calls for conversation about rape to be normalised. Döring, who is now in her thirties and lives in Dublin, was raped by an older man during her teens in a park late at night. She said the incident led her on a path to working in the sex trade for several years until finally leaving it behind at age 24. She delayed speaking out about the incident as she was unaware that what had occurred was rape.
