‘Procurement processes for fire trucks, stations on track’ – The Manila Times

The Philippine International Trading Corp. (PITC) on Wednesday assured Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto that the procurement process for fire trucks and the fire station needs of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is on track. The assurance came after Recto voiced concerns on the government’s alleged failure to deliver “P3.27-billion worth of supplies, materials and buildings” to the BFP. “The BFP outsourced the procurement of its fire trucks and the design and build of fire stations across the regions to the PITC in keeping with Republic Act 9184, which is the government procurement law,” PITC Chairman and Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said in a statement, adding that the PITC was “only the procurement agent” and that it was collaborating closely “with the BFP, which has representatives in our Bids and Awards Committee, and in the technical working group that approved the terms of reference for every procurement.” Meanwhile, PITC President Dave Almarinez said a detailed status report would be submitted to Recto, adding that awards for the design and construction of 72 fire stations will be out by yearend, and 26 stations were being built.
