Procurement of milk sees 40% drop | Hyderabad News

Hyderabad: Milk procurement from the grassroots levels — villages — has been affected due to fear of spread of coronavirus. Milk procurement personnel of the government-managed Vijaya Dairy have been stopped by villagers in several gram panchayats following which procurement has come down.
Milk procurement by Vijaya Dairy has fell down from five lakh litres per day two years ago to less than three lakh litres per day. “There has been a 40% decrease in milk procurement by Telangana State Dairy Development Cooperative Federation (TSDDCF) which sells packaged milk and milk products under Vijaya brand name in the last few months,” officials said.
As per the orders issued by the government, milk procurement is among the essential commodities and vehicles or personnel collecting milk should not be stopped even in the lockdown period.
