Wisconsin plumbing products giant Kohler plans to establish a new $300 million factory in Arizona that will create hundreds of new jobs.
AZ Big Media reports that the Casa Grande, Arizona, city council approved a development agreement for the 1 million-square-foot facility on Nov. 9. The company expects to hire 425 workers within five years of completing the project, while a regional economic development group estimated that the campus would generate an economic impact of more than $1 billion overall — $13.8 million of which would go directly to the city.
Casa Grande officials plan to expand and upgrade roadways around the 200-acre site. The facility will reportedly take about 18 months to complete; a date for the beginning of construction was not given.
The factory, Kohler’s first Arizona location, will be the first major project at the city’s Pinal County Technology Park, but numerous other companies have set up shop in the area — located between Phoenix and Tucson — in recent years.
Kohler, known for kitchen and bath products, also makes cabinetry, tile, lighting, engines, and power systems. The company operates more than 50 manufacturing locations worldwide with a global workforce of more than 35,000.
