The Pirates announced today that they’ve placed reliever Nick Burdi on the 45-day injured list. He’s said to be dealing with a right elbow injury.
Utilityman JT Riddle has been activated from the injured list to take the open roster spot.
While the full outlook isn’t yet known, this is just wretched news for Burdi. The 27-year-old flamethrower has dealt with numerous significant arm issues over his halting career. He has already rehabbed through Tommy John and thoracic outlet surgeries.
