Firefighters battle the factory fire.
Alfred Duma Municipal and Pieters fire-fighters spent most
of Saturday battling a massive factory fire in the Pieters Industrial area, Ladysmith.
The bellowing black smoke and meter high flames could be
seen from Pieters and Colenso roads.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage, but fire
fighters said that a fire like this could take up to hours to extinguish.
The textile factory is situated along Red Street. Owners of
the factory stood and watched in shock as the fire rapidly moved throughout the
factory, completely engulfing the building premises. Firefighters had to be
called away, as the heat and dangerous flames could not be battled. There were
no reports of any injuries.
