The boss of the £6bn-turnover parent company of Lloyds Pharmacy is to be a speaker at an Insider forum looking at the growth of the health sector.
Toby Anderson is chief executive of Coventry-based McKesson UK, which also owns AAH, the UK’s largest pharmaceutical wholesaler.
He will be one of six speakers taking part in the online forum, entitled Midlands Health Sector: the Investment Opportunities, which takes place on 2 March.
Anderson, who has held the role since 2018, will talk about how the business is helping develop the Midlands health sector and improving the lives of patients through healthtech.
The former Sainsbury’s executive will also talk about the key role Lloyds is set to play in the redevelopment of the high street, saying that he would like to see many of its 1,350 pharmacies become something similar to healthcare centres.
Other issues to be examined by the forum include how the health sector can overcome challenges such as funding, commercialisation and skills. It will also look at how innovation hubs are helping turn fantastic ideas into successful treatments and medical products.
The other speakers are Andy Lindstrom, director of marketing at drug researcher Sygnature Discovery; Dr Catherine Beech, chief executive at Exonate, which is developing treatment for people suffering sight loss; Prof Gino Martini, managing director of the Precision Health Technologies Accelerator (PHTA) at University of Birmingham; Dr Kath Mackay, director of life sciences at developer Bruntwood SciTech and Dr Nik Kotecha, chairman, Morningside Pharmaceuticals.
