Pero Family Farms issues squash recall amid listeria concerns – 104.5 WOKV

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. — Pero Family Farms Food Co. LLC has initiated a voluntary recall of its Butternut Squash Trays due to the potential for listeria contamination.

The recall includes nearly three dozen varieties of butternut squash cubes, chunks and spirals, distributed under the Pero Family Farms label in Louisiana, Florida, Texas, New York, Maine, Georgia, Ohio, Virginia, Alabama and Missouri.

The affected items were distributed to wholesalers and retailers between Jan. 2 and Jan. 11, according to a company statement.

Although no illnesses have been reported in connection to the products to date, the voluntary recall was initiated after butternut squash supplier Race West Co. notified Pero Family Farms of possible listeria contamination, the recall notice stated.

Consumers who may have purchased this product are urged to discard the item or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
