Peloton expanding distribution to Amazon

NEW YORK (BRAIN) — Peloton will expand the distribution of its bike, Guide, and selected accessories and apparel to Amazon’s U.S. stores. Bike delivery will be available to most in the U.S.

Products and accessories previously were sold exclusively through the brand’s e-commerce sites, inside sales channels, and global showroom. Customers can search for Peloton products on Amazon to see if they are available for purchase and delivery in their area.

“Expanding our distribution channels through Amazon is a natural extension of our business and an organic way to increase access to our brand,” said Peloton Chief Commercial Officer Kevin Cornils. “We want to meet consumers where they are, and they are shopping on Amazon. Providing additional opportunities to expose people to Peloton is a clear next step, as we continue to generate excitement for our unparalleled connected fitness experience.”

Customers will have the option to assemble the bikes at home or add-on “expert” assembly available to most in the U.S. The in-home delivery and expert assembly are offered at no additional cost.

Peloton has experienced declining sales coming out of the pandemic. To reduce costs, the company announced in February that it would back off plans to develop domestic manufacturing and eliminate 2,800 jobs globally.

Then in July, Peloton said it will cease all owned manufacturing operations and expand its relationship with Taiwan’s Rexon Industrial Corp. Rexon will become the primary manufacturer of the hardware for Peloton’s Bike and Tread product lines.
