The Independent MHA for Mount Pearl-Southlands wants to know why eight provinces across the country are providing rapid test kits to the general public free of charge, while Newfoundlanders and Labradorians are being forced to pay for their tests.
Three million rapid tests are being distributed in Newfoundland and Labrador through schools, post-secondary institutions, healthcare facilities, and ambulances.
The province’s schools will distribute ten test kits to each student, which Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Janice Fitzgerald says can be shared with family and friends.
She says an unlimited supply will be provided to families that run out.
Paul Lane is calling on government to address the inequity and ensure that the people of Newfoundland and Labrador are provided with the testing supplies they need to ensure their health and safety.
