Paddy procurement at MSP by govt registers increase of nearly 19.42 % this year

Paddy procurement at MSP by Government has registered an increase of nearly 19.42 per cent this year. Government has said that compared to previous year’s corresponding purchase so far, paddy procurement under Kharif 2020-21 marketing season has witnessed a huge upsurge. Over 20 lakh 50 thousand farmers have already benefitted. Government has paid an amount of nearly 46 thousand crores.

 

Paddy procurement for Kharif 2020-21 is progressing well in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala and Gujarat.  Over 243 Lakh Metric Tonnes of paddy has been procurred so far. Out of the total purchase, Punjab alone has contributed over 171 Lakh Metric Tonnes which is nearly 70 per cent of the total procurement.

 

Based on the proposal from the States, approval has also been accorded for procurement of nearly 45 lakh Metric Tonnes of pulses and oilseeds from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana and Gujarat among others.
