LONDON – Commissioning has finished of the onshore reception facilities at the Perenco-operated Bacton terminal for IOG’s Saturn Banks gas development in the UK southern North Sea.
Pipeline backgassing is now under way, the final step to first gas which should flow sometime next week, pending weather and logistics.
Backgassing involves reverse flow of gas from the terminal to pressurize the pipeline system to the safe operating window for start-up, with final function tests performed on equipment and safety systems to ensure that forward flow can begin.
