No let-up in factory fires : The Tribune India

Ludhiana, December 27

A major fire broke out at a hosiery unit, Anand Enterprises, Sudhan Mohalla, in the old city area in the wee hours today. Goods and machinery worth lakhs were destroyed in the fire.

According to information, the fire broke out around 4 am. The factory guard noticed the fire and raised the alarm.

Local residents gathered there and called fire brigade which took almost three hours to douse the flames. The residents’ effort to put out the fire went in vain.

The fire engulfed the first and second floor of the four-storey building which housed huge stocks of garments.

The factory owner, Sanjiv Sahi, said his loss could be in lakhs but he was yet to ascertain the exact figure. He said fortunately, there was no one inside the factory.
