New textile factory in Rustavi to create 4,000 jobs

Local textile enterprise Ajara Textile has built a new textile factory in Rustavi which will employ 4,000 people in Rustavi and Gardabani.

Kartli Textile in Rustavi was opened at a time ‘when enterprises are closing in many other countries’ during the pandemic, noted Economy Minister Natia Turnava.

The factory was built in four months, while it took one month to set up the equipment and begin operating the building.

Ajara Textile, as a group, was able to continue working despite many challenges. At the same time, they have won new contracts in foreign export markets and resumed exports faster than their global competitors…The company signed a contract with Nike during the pandemic,” said Turnava.

The state gave land to the company Kartli for the symbolic price of 1 GEL to build the factory on the plot.

20 million GEL was invested in the construction of the factory, of which 10 million GEL is a loan taken with the assistance of the Produce in Georgia programme.

Ajara Textile has worked with a number of international brands, including Nike, Adidas, Lotto, Erima, New Balance and Under Armor. The company is 100% export-oriented and annually produces and exports more than 15 million units of products.
