DEED awarded Associated Wholesale Grocers, Inc. with $175,000 from its Job Creation Fund for construction of its new food distribution facility in St. Cloud.
AWG is the new supplier for Coborn’s, and is building a new $75 million facility. The project will create 114 qualifying jobs in the first year, according to DEED, with an average wage of $23 an hour.
This is one of 11 businesses, and one of five in Greater Minnesota, that received Job Creation Fund money or Minnesota Investment Fund money. Altogether, the projects were awarded $6 million from DEED (about $3 million from each fund) and are investing up to $607 million in Minnesota, according to the press release from DEED.
AWG is a food wholesaler cooperative serving independent supermarkets. Altogether, the new facility will support more than 400 jobs.
Bradbury Stamm Construction announces new Midwest president
A New Mexico construction firm has promoted a new president to lead its Midwest office in St. Cloud.
John Waletzko is the new president of the Midwest office. He has worked at Bradbury Stamm for almost nine years, according to a press release from the company, and has led projects worth more than $90 million. He’s held various roles in construction, such as field labor, project management and vice president of field operations.
“John, with the support of the rest of our local management team, will help guide the strategic direction of our firm, oversee client satisfaction and project success, and our role in the local community,” the release said.
Waletzko is in the St. Cloud Chamber of Commerce, serves on the advisory board for the St. Cloud State University Construction Management Program and also joined the advisory board at Bemidji State University, according to the release.
Bradbury Stamm is a general contractor construction firm with offices in New Mexico and Central Minnesota.
Quiet Oaks Hospice House has new director of nursing
Quiet Oaks Hospice House has made Heather Olson its new director of nursing.
Olson has 25 years of nursing experience, spending most of that career in birth and death care, according to a press release from Quiet Oaks.
“She also holds a certificate in Spiritual Direction and weaves the crucial strands of physical, mental and spiritual health and healing into her profession every day,” the release said.
Quiet Oaks Hospice is a hospice and palliative care provider in St. Cloud.

St. Cloud business adding on to building
SB Restoration Services is expanding its space in response to business growth.
The addition will include 11 offices, a conference room and a showroom with a training center.
Over its almost 40-year history, Steam Brothers has expanded its expertise to include new construction, remodeling services, disaster restoration and cleaning services for residential, commercial and agricultural customers. The company acquired Scotty’s Exteriors in 2016.
Work on the addition began in fall 2021 and is expected to be completed in the spring.
