Nafed to set up procurement centres in Bihar

Media reports say Nafed will set up procurement centres in central and west Bihar districts to purchase around 60,000 metric tonnes of pulses, particularly masoor from the farmers on minimum support price (MSP).

Following a gap of several years, Nafed will buy 2 lakh metric tonnes of maize from farmers in Bihar this season from April. Sources say Nafed will make immediate payment to the farmers.

Nafed says it is in contact with Bihar’s co-op dept and PACS about establishing procurement centres in various districts of the state.
