Metsä Board to install core handling and roll handling systems at Husum Mill

Core Link has been awarded a combined contract by Metsä Board for new Core Handling and Roll Handling systems, to ensure the planned production capacity increase on BM1 at the Metsä Board Husum Mill.

Andreas Bjernklev, Head of Sales & Projects at Core Link, said: “The planned Capacity increase from 400,000 to 600,000 tons/year will create some interesting challenges for the Roll- and Core Handling systems at the Husum Mill.”

The Core Handling delivery includes; a High Capacity CL4090 Core Cutter with Twin Parent Core Robots and a Parent Core Transport System also feeding an existing Core Link Core Cutter.

Core Link will also deliver Automatic Core Plugging and Core Transport Systems to two winders.

The Roll Handling delivery includes; a rebuild of existing Roll Handling System to increase and optimize capacity and throughput, a new Roll Handling line from new winder to existing Roll Handling system, an intermediate automatic roll storage system and Core Links automatic trailer loading system “Loadmate”.

The machine installation will be carried out from 4Q 2022 and throughout 2023.
