Right now there are no immediate hindrances in the distribution of medication, Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski said on Friday after the EU members’ special coronavirus sitting in Brussels.
Szumowski said that the development and testing of a coronavirus vaccine would take at least 18 months. At the meeting, Poland pointed out the importance of monitoring the safety of medication. Szumowski said that although the medical distribution chain was unhindered today, it should be kept under strict control to avoid problems in the near future.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Poland joined an EU medical procurement mechanism launched after an African Swine Fever (ASF) epidemic. Poland did not join the mechanism earlier over doubts as to the responsibility of pharma producers for the medical products in question.
