NEW ORLEANS – Mayor LaToya Cantrell today celebrated the opening of the newest location of The Munch Factory Restaurant at the City-owned Joseph M. Bartholomew Municipal Golf Course Club House.

The restaurant, which originally operated in the Gentilly neighborhood, moved its location to the Lower Garden District in 2017. The expansion to the golf course represents a return to the restaurant’s roots. The restaurant opened its third location at the new Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in November.

“It is great to see a neighborhood favorite return back to Gentilly. By expanding The Munch Factory’s operations to Joe Bartholomew Golf Course, in the heart of Pontchartrain Park, they are demonstrating the success we’d like to see for all of our small businesses. This is a win-win-win, a win for the golf course, a win for the patrons and a win for the neighborhood,” Mayor LaToya Cantrell said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy, and we are remaining intentional about creating an equitable procurement process and ensuring that our small businesses have access to their fair share of opportunities.”

Mayor Cantrell co-hosted the opening with District D Councilmember Jared C. Brossett.

“It is a privilege to welcome The Munch Factory to the Joseph M. Bartholomew Golf Course and back to District D. Their initial success in and quick return to Gentilly showcases the small business opportunities District D offers to residents,” said Councilmember Brossett. “With a Creole-inspired menu, it’s a perfect addition to both the Golf Course and the larger Gentilly dining scene. Welcome home, Munch Factory.”

The Munch Factory co-owners Jordan Ruiz and Alexis Pearson Ruiz said, “When we moved from Gentilly, we promised our customers who became our family, that if the opportunity presented itself, we would want nothing more than to return to our beloved area. We have been warmly welcomed back and are extremely happy seeing the return of our loyal customers while gaining new ones.  And, we can’t forget our most important clients – the golfers that enjoy this wonderful golf course.”
