Authorities say the fire broke out in a ship’s container anchored at the Jebel Ali port.
According to reports there have been no deaths or injuries and that the fire is under control.
Dubai’s Media Office said the ship, which was not identified, was preparing to dock at one of the berths “away from the port’s main shipping line”.
The ship’s crew had been evacuated in time.
