Man’s body pulled from factory destroyed by fire in Fairfield

A man has died after a fire engulfed a factory in Sydney’s west on Thursday.

Just before 4pm on Thursday March 12, Fire and Rescue NSW responded to reports a factory was on fire on Fairfield Street, Fairfield East.

Firefighters arrived a short time later requesting assistance of police due to safety concerns.

After fire authorities deemed the structure safe, police searched the building’s remains yesterday.

About 6.40pm the body of a man was located in a small room inside the factory.

He is yet to be formally identified.

The scene will be subject to further investigation and a brief will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
