Man found dead in Yuba County waste facility likely suffocated to death, officials say

The body of a man was found in a waste management facility in Yuba County and is believed to have been there for some time, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.Recology, a waste management agency, found the body on April 26 around 1:50 p.m. in one of its material recovery facilities at 3001 North Levee Road in Marysville, the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office said. It’s believed the body was brought in with a cardboard recycling truck sometime during the week before the man was found.The sheriff’s office identified the body as Ron Lamp of Magalia, California. Lamp’s body had minor injuries that are not believed to have led to his death. Instead, the cause of death was “probably asphyxia due to entrapment in a recycling truck.”A toxicology report states: “Lamp was under the influence of a controlled substance,” the sheriff’s office said.The exact location and date of arrival of the pickup truck believed to have carried Lamp could not be found, the sheriff’s office said.Anyone with info is asked to call 530-749-7777.
