The M/V Madrid Bridge is set to continue its voyage to Savannah following the completion of cargo discharge operations at the Port of Charleston, Ocean Network Express said Monday.
The update comes about a week after the Madrid Bridge docked at the Hugh K. Leatherman terminal with dozens of collapsed containers. Madrid Bridge was reported to have lost some 60 containers overboard and another 80 collapsed on deck after experiencing heavy weather while on passage in the Atlantic Ocean from Singapore to New York back on January 7.
Madrid Bridge is operated on ONE’s East Coast 4 (EC4) Service. Rather than proceed to New York as planned, the ship detoured to Charleston to discharge damaged containers.
“Please be informed that the vessel has completed cargo discharging operations at Charleston as planned. After proceeding with the necessary repair and inspection, the vessel is expected to depart Charleston on or around February 2, 2022, without guarantee and subject to change, and continue her voyage to Savannah,” ONE’s update said.
