Liquibox builds bag-in-box ‘super-factory’ in Madrid

The Virginia, US headquartered packaging company has installed 16 bag making machines in the 140,000-sq-ft (13,000-sq-m) flexible packaging factory in Madrid, along with additional warehouse capacity. A flexible footprint will allow it to adapt operations to changes in volume and product mix and thus minimize waste.

As part of its smart design, the factory features a Clean Room, offering more than 13,000 sq. ft (1,200 sq. m) of 100% dedicated production space, with all wooden pallets relegated to a separate palletizing area. Current BRC, ISO9001 and ISO22000 certifications will be maintained in the new building.

Despite COVID-19 disruption, the construction on the site has remained on track since it broke ground on the site in February.

Liquibox’s bag-in-box technology can be used across beverages (such as wine); liquid foods, chemical fluids and more: citing the benefits of transportation and storage savings; user-friendly dispensing; and reduced carbon footprint to other packaging options.
