LETTER: FLANIGAN, Plymouth: Distribution system in place to handle supplies – Opinion – The Patriot Ledger, Quincy, MA

The Patriot Ledger verifies and reviews all letters to the editor we receive. The letters represent the views of the letter writers, not those of The Patriot Ledger.

To the editor:

As a past distribution center operations manager, I can’t understand the why the White House refuses to use the distribution system already in place.

The Defense Logistics Agency was established for the very purpose of stopping the different branches of service from competing for the same commodities.

If permitted they would: gather orders from the states; arrive at the quantity needed; issue bids for competitive bidding; issue the award; direct shipments to the needed destinations. This system is in place now. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Please tell someone in the White House to pick up the phone and call the distribution pros, it’s not too late.

MICHAEL J. FLANIGAN
