Lawrence Wong on emergency procurement to fight COVID-19 pandemic

Government agencies followed proper procedures when they urgently obtained goods and services needed to fight the COVID-19 pandemic without calling for a tender. National Development Minister and Second Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong said this in Parliament on Friday (Jun 5) in reply to an MP’s questions. He said more procurement will be carried out through open sourcing when the situation stabilises or improves. Mr Wong said that for now, it is still a fair process. He stressed that the focus is on doing what is necessary to swiftly deal with the coronavirus pandemic.
