Kin of celebrities, politicians and bureaucrats taken into custody after Hyderabad police bust drug racket at hotel | Hyderabad News

HYDERABAD: In a major drug bust in the upmarket Banjara Hills, Hyderabad police conducted a raid on a star hotel and seized cocaine in the wee hours of Sunday. Several prominent persons, which includes persons linked to Tollywood, kin of a politician and a senior IPS officer from Andhra Pradesh.
The raid was conducted at 2.30 am by the sleuths of Hyderabad’s task force, where the hotel management allegedly allowed nearly 150 customers to party.
Police seized different powder materials besides widespread liquor found during the raid.
“Initially, the staff claimed that the seized powder was sugar. But we seized the material and it was tested positive for cocaine,” sources in Hyderabad police told TOI.
Following this, the top brass of Hyderabad police is in the process of taking action against Banjara Hills station house officer, since this hotel is 1 km away from the police station.
According to officials, nearly 150 customers besides the hotel staff were brought to Banjara Hills police station.
However, some suspicious persons, especially four foreign nationals, were kept in the police custody and investigation is underway.
“Since the last month, we had information that frequently a large number of vehicles were found in star hotel late in the night. Based on this tip-off, police worked on the leads and they conducted a raid and seized drugs,” reliable sources told TOI.
A serving Andhra Pradesh IPS officer’s daughter, niece of a very popular Tollywood veteran actor, a Tollywood singer, a son of a businessman-turned politician from AP, were a few among the 150 persons who were found partying late in the night at this hotel.
