GRAND RAPIDS, MI – Kent County on Jan. 2 will hike the rates on trash and recyclables dumped at its facilities, and it may translate to higher bills for residents.

Grand Rapids officials say residents won’t see any changes to their trash bills or taxes through July 1, but they are weighing options following that date to offset the increased county rates. Previously floated options included raising taxes or the cost of each trash collection.
