Kansas felon jailed for alleged marijuana distribution

 SHAWNEE COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas felon on new charges after a traffic stop.

Just after 2:30a.m. Tuesday, Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 2300 block of SE Cedarwood Drive for a traffic violation, according to Sgt. Todd Stallbaumer.

Through the investigation at the scene, the driver, Christopher T. Parkhurst, 31, of Topeka, was arrested and transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Felon in possession of a firearm, Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, Possession of paraphernalia, Driving without a license and Driving without insurance, according to Stallbaumer.
