Interim Commercial Procurement Officer

An urgent public sector position has arisen for a component, professional and experienced procurement professional to work on a crucial infrastructure development project of national significance.
The successful individual will work with within a central government organisation in providing expert procurement and contractual support to the commercial team. They will take a lead in ensuring compliance throughout the tender process and across all procurement activities, building strong relationships with project stakeholders and external suppliers to ensure best practice and maximum value for money.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Support line management and wider business units in ensuring procurement processes are followed and public sector procurement regulations are implemented
- Supporting the commercial teams in achieving the best cost savings and value for money possible, by displaying procurement best practise.
- Taking a lead on high-value and crucial tenders, compiling documentation, and dealing with contractual amendments
- Building strong working relationships with suppliers, ensuring compliance from their side
- Responsible for delivering the project on-time and on budget
The key criteria for this role are:
- Strong public sector procurement experience, and a sound working knowledge of public procurement/OJEU regulations (At least 6 years’ experience)
- Experience working on large infrastructure projects desirable
- Strong end-to-end commercial procurement skills, including sourcing, contract management, framework, and tender management
- Full right to work in the UK, Security Clearance desirable but eligibility for SC essential
