indiacast: Media distribution veteran Anuj Gandhi quits as IndiaCast CEO

Anuj Gandhi, group CEO of IndiaCast Media Distribution, the content monetisation and distribution arm of Reliance Industries-owned and its subsidiary Viacom18, has quit after almost a decade-long stint.

A veteran in the media distribution space, Gandhi was instrumental in setting up IndiaCast in March 2012, and under his leadership, the company grew four-folds in the first five years, people close to development said.

Rahul Joshi, MD & CEO, TV18, informed the employees of Gandhi’s exit in an internal communique.

“It is in a pensive mood that I bid fond farewell to Anuj Gandhi, a long-standing colleague with hardly an equal in the world of media distribution,” Joshi wrote. “One of the key pillars of our leadership team at TV18 and Viacom18, he has made mastery of key technology trends in the industry a hallmark of his sparkling career.”

He wrote that Gandhi was instrumental in setting up India’s first content monetisation and licensing company, IndiaCast, across traditional and digital platforms and led the team that established a highly successful international business for the group.

Gandhi was also actively involved in putting together and leading the media partnership ecosystem for Jio’s mobility and fibre businesses. He also managed the group’s cable businesses, after Reliance Industries acquired majority stake in two of the largest cable companies in the country,

and Hathway Cable & Datacom.

Prior to IndiaCast, Gandhi was the CEO of Den Networks, which he had set up as its founder CEO with chairman and MD Sameer Manchanda.

Back in 2002, Gandhi also setup and headed SET-Discovery, a distribution joint venture between the then Sony Entertainment Television (SET) and Discovery Inc for over five years.
