Holman Parts Distribution®, a premier partner of major OE brands for automotive powertrain sales, distribution, and core collection, today announced the company has received a 2019 SDCE Green Supply Chain Award from Supply & Demand Chain Executive. The annual award recognizes small, mid-size, and large enterprises that leverage green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain. This marks the third consecutive year Holman Parts Distribution has received the SDCE award.
“We are incredibly proud to once again be recognized by SDCE for our sustainability efforts. Fostering a workplace culture that emphasizes sustainable practices and clean driving habits is among the core tenets of our corporate philosophy,” said Holman Parts Distribution’s Director of Logistics and Operations John Conte. “The transportation industry has a unique opportunity to reduce greenhouse gas emissions on a global scale, and it is critical that we collectively prioritize business strategies that continue to reduce our carbon footprint.”
Holman Parts Distribution’s comprehensive sustainability policy is comprised of several key initiatives highlighted by training programs to help reinforce eco-friendly driving habits along with a corresponding scorecard to measure each driver’s performance and sustainable practices. Additionally, the company uses telematics technology to monitor key metrics such as fuel usage and idling times and also equips all Holman Parts Distribution vehicles with idle cutoff switches in an effort to further reduce idle times and greenhouse gas emissions across its fleet.
Through these programs, Holman Parts Distribution was able to reduce its overall fuel consumption by approximately six percent in 2018 and is on pace to reduce its fuel consumption by an additional 2.6 percent in 2019. The company also has plans in place to further reduce fuel consumption by four percent by 2021.
The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy, and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their own operations and supply chains. The awards also recognize providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.
“Every year our Green Supply Chain Award recipients demonstrate what is achievable in supply chain sustainability,” said John R. Yuva, editor for Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “It is clear that while sustainability is now a new concept, there is always more we can accomplish. We extend our congratulations to this year’s award recipients and their commitment to green initiatives. The entries serve as best-in-class examples for other companies to model and create value for their supply chains.”
