GR Anil, latest news, Kerala news, ration card kerala, wheat and kerosene

Thiruvananthapuram: Food and Civil Supplies Minister GR Anil informed that public distribution of wheat and kerosene is hampered due to the cut in the allocation of union government.

Wheat distribution to 50 lakh non-priority subsidy ration card holders has been affected, said the minister. He added that considering the current financial position of the state, it won’t be practical for the government to source wheat from the open market for distribution.

Last month, the union government ceased 6,459-ton wheat allocation, he pointed out.

Similarly, the union government has not provided the quantity of kerosene for the first quarter of 2022 when compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Raising concerns, the state has written to union minister for food and civil supplies, GR Anil informed.
