Government forges ahead on infrastructure projects for supply chain, climate change, tech

President Biden signed a $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill last year. So far, more than $80 billion of it has been dedicated to projects. Transportation Secretary Buttigieg recently updated lawmakers on progress and challenges.

  • The projects underway focus on the supply chain, climate change and new technology, said Eugene Mulero, senior congressional reporter at Transport Topics.
  • He said the secretary told Congress the Department of Transportation is calculating how to respond to inflation, “a really big concern.”
  • Some of the oversight mechanisms include an infrastructure czar and a multi-agency task force, said Mulero.
