Almost 900,000 packages of Girl Scout cookies will move through West Chester Saturday.
Local Girl Scout volunteers from 877 troops in western Ohio are picking up the initial cookie orders for this year’s season throughout the day Saturday at the Planes Moving & Storage warehouse in West Chester.
The cookies are sent from Little Brownie Bakers in Louisville to the warehouse, where troop volunteers pick them up to bring back to the scouts. Scouts will distribute the cookies to customers in the next few weeks.

The West Chester “Cookie Drop” is the largest for the Girls Scouts of Western Ohio council. Nearly 2.3 million boxes of cookies will be distributed by the 11,000 scouts in the 32 counties in Ohio and Indiana under the council’s jurisdiction.
Council spokesperson Devon Beck-Monahan said the order number is slightly lower than last year, as more sales move online.
“We also changed the timeline a bit this year, so less pre-orders, but more booth sales and more sales going door-to-door with cookies in a wagon and that sort of thing,” she said.
The Girl Scouts will start booth sales Feb. 14 and continue until March 15.
Which are you getting?: Not all Girl Scout cookies are the same.
