Freudenberg Medical announced today that it has completed construction of a new medical manufacturing operation in Beverly, Mass.

The new building will serve as Freudenberg Medical’s global headquarters and will manufacture medical devices and components in medical and implant-grade silicones and high-performance plastics.

The 36,000 ft2 building includes expanded manufacturing and product development facilities and Class 8 cleanroom space for molding and assembly. The operation is ISO 13485-certified and FDA-registered, according to the company.

“The Boston life science cluster is the ideal place for our new headquarters and expanded manufacturing operation,” said Freudenberg Medical president & CEO Max Kley in a news release. “It brings us closer to our customers, provides access to a strong medtech workforce and allows us to connect with local universities and research institutes.”

“The opening of this new facility at this challenging moment is proof of our long-term commitment and determination to continue this pursuit, drawing on our worldwide materials expertise to improve life-saving medical tools and components,” added Freudenberg CEO  Mohsen Sohi.

Freudenberg Medical has a long history in the region. The previous operation in Gloucester, Mass., had been in operation since 1989 and is a processor of silicone and thermoplastic components for medical and healthcare applications.
