Fuel prices have confounded Californians for months.

To stop crazy gas prices, get off oil

I often hear that Biden is responsible for the jump in fuel prices. This is odd, as gas prices are rising across the world, but Biden is the president of only one country. Oil (including oil from, the U.S.) is traded on a world market, and blaming Biden for it makes about as much sense as blaming Trump for the appearance of COVID-19.

Fossil fuels are prone to market fluctuations, and major events often cause prices to spike. However, there are plenty of ways to generate power — including power to run vehicles — aside from fossil fuels. There’s nuclear power, wind, solar, hydroelectric and many more.

If you are tired of being gouged at the gas pump, look to long-term solutions that allow us to stop relying on volatile oil markets. While we suffer, their profits increase. It’s time to let the oil companies lighten their wallets for a change.

Everywhere he turns, problems

So, I just got some $6.29 liquid gold, formally known as gasoline. Then I went to Target to find a poor available product selection and long checkout lines due to short staffing.

Meanwhile, Joe and his pals are too busy holding hearings and sending billions to Ukraine to be bothered with things like that.

I would meet and talk with my “vaccinated” buddies about it, but they all have COVID. Is it 2024 yet?

Pro-lifers should back vaccinations

For years, people in the anti-abortion movement have said that they are “pro-life.”

Recently there has been a perfect opportunity for people to show that they are really pro-life. The COVID-19 virus has taken over 1 million lives in this country and several million lives in other countries. And it is clear that vaccination saves lives. People who have not been vaccinated are much more likely to die from COVID than those who have been vaccinated.

Have we seen crowds of activists from the anti-abortion movement demonstrating their support for vaccinations? I don’t think so. Have they criticized governors who have prohibited businesses from requiring vaccinations? I don’t think so.

Ironically, the slogan of those who refuse vaccination is, “my body, my choice,” which copies the position of those who are pro-choice on that other issue.

Unwanted, abused children

“Right to Lifers” should spend some time at Child Protective Services, an agency that deals with abused, unwanted children. Children who have been starved, locked in closets, sexually abused, tortured and beaten. These RTLs want to preserve life? What kind of life is this for these children? What are the RTLs going to do about it?

I used to do evaluations of abusive parents for CPS and the court. Of 250 such cases, only two parents said “I did it” and “I want to change.” The rest denied responsibility.
