Freight Futures data to watch: Weekly spot contract settlement changes

It was an overall strong week for the Trucking Freight Futures markets as 10 of the 11 spot month contracts posted gains for the week. The spot National contract (FUT.VNU202006) ended the week 0.55% higher to $1.474 per mile, driven by the East regional contract (FUT.VEU202006), which rose $0.02, or 1.4%, to $1.454. The South regional contract (FUT.VSU202006) rose 0.4% week-over-week to $1.311, as did the West regional contract (FUT.VWU202006), which inched up a fraction to $1.659. 

On the individual lanes, the ATL to PHL contract (FUT.VAP202006) jumped $0.03, or 1.6%, to $1.930, and the CHI to ATL contract (FUT.VCA202006) rose $0.021, or 1.5%, to $1.463. The PHL to CHI contract (FUT.VPC202006) gained $0.01 (1%) to settle the week at $0.969. In the South, both the LAX to DAL (FUT.VLD202006) and the DAL to LAX (FUT.VDL202006) contracts were up modestly by 0.2% and 0.4% week-over-week, to $0.954 and $1.667, respectively. In the West, a 0.3% rise in the LAX to SEA contract (FUT.VLS202006) to $2.538 was mostly offset by a 0.6% drop in the SEA to LAX contract (FUT.VSL202006) to $0.780.
