Food and civil supplies, culture minister Amarjeet Bhagat conducted surprise inspection of paddy procurement at village Kendri, Abhanpur and Manikchauri of Raigarh district and interacted with farmers on progress of paddy procurement by the state government.
He reviewed the progress of procurement process by inspecting the weighing, humidity and sought details from the procurement centre employees.
Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Society, N. K. Chandravanshi said at Kendri centre, which covers seven villages, from December 1 around 71 quintal of paddy had been procured while on Tuesday around 32 farmers had sold 1760 quintal paddy and coupon has been provided to them.
During interaction with farmers, Bishat Sahu, Itwari Sahu and Rambhagat Sahu and Bajiyarin from Baktara village said at present procurement was done smoothly. Minister assured the farmers that they will be paid Rs 2500 per quintal as assured for the paddy procured from them.
The state government has taken the decision to provide the balance amount separately to farmers.
