First drive-thru food pantry opens in SF

A steady stream of cars rolled into the city’s first drive-thru food distribution site at the Oracle parking lot in San Francisco’s South Beach neighborhood Friday afternoon.

With a small army of 65 volunteers all wearing masks, the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank was prepared to load up to 900 cars with boxes of fresh produce and shelf-stable staples, and that number is expected to grow to up to 1,500 next Friday as word gets out about the new weekly food pantry pop-up.
