Fire destroys Pallets for Days, damages Tina Marie’s Cafe in Downtown Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A fire in downtown Bakersfield claimed one business and at least damaged another on Saturday morning.

The Bakersfield Fire Department responded to the call for a structure fire at 600 Chester Avenue around 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Crews say Pallets for Days was “completely damaged” by the blaze. Next door, Tina Marie’s Downtown Cafe was at least damaged.

BFD says one exterior wall was compromised at Tina Marie’s, and crews were still assessing what is salvageable inside.

The three-alarm fire was put out by around 4 a.m., and arson investigators were on scene.

No injuries were reported, and a cause has not yet been determined.

Traffic was blocked at the intersection of 20th Street and Chester Avenue as of 7 a.m.
