Belagavi: A fire broke out at a bed manufacturing factory in the city destroying materials worth lakhs of rupees. Shashidhar Neelgar, a fire department official said that fire was spotted at Modern Bed Factory in Azad Nagar in the afternoon, and the department was immediately alerted. The workers evacuated themselves following the fire and there were no injuries or casualties. Owing to the highly flammable property of the cotton and fabric used in beds, fire had spread very fast and it took the fire department several hours to extinguish the blaze. Men from neighbouring shops and police also helped douse fire. What caused the fire is yet to be ascertained.
