farmers: Dairy Farmers Seek Hike In Procurement Price | Coimbatore News

Tirupur: Dairy farmers from the district staged a demonstration in front of the Aavin office in the city on Monday urging the state government to increase the milk procurement price by 10 a litre as input cost for rearing cows has increased. More than 50 farmers took part in the protest from various parts of Tirupur. At present, one litre of milk is procured at 32, whereas one litre buffalo milk is procured at 41. They wanted the price to be increased to 42 and 51 respectively. Farmers also urged the state government to provide funds to compensate the loss incurred by the milk cooperatives as the DMK government brought down the milk price by 3 per litre to fulfil its election promise. S K Kolandasamy, member, Tirupur district committee of the state milk producers’ association, said Aavin is facing 270 crore loss due to the price reduction. TNN
