Factory owner arrested in connection with murder

SARABURI: Police have arrested owner of a fertiliser factory charged in connection with the murder of a woman three years ago in Phra Phutthabat district.

Provincial police apprehended Santi Juengthongdee and one of his employees, Niwat Chalermwat, at the factory Tuesday afternoon.

The two men were nabbed after police obtained arrest warrants issued by the Saraburi provincial court.

They were charged with colluding to carry out the premeditated murder of Klinkesorn Wongsing, 36, a saleswoman in the company three years ago.

Klinkesorn was reported missing by her family in 2016 after she disappeared along with her car in the district.

On Dec 9, local police were alerted by residents who discovered a Bangkok-registered Nissan sedan at the bottom of a canal with a body trapped in it.

The police raised the car, which was filled with mud and covered in thick algae, from the water. The windshield was broken.

Inside the car, police found a human skeleton wrapped in a mattress. Checks confirmed the vehicle belonged to Klinkesorn, 36. The skeleton was taken for forensic examination and DNA testing, the results of which positively identified Klinkesorn.

The police investigators said the woman appeared to have been killed and her body put in the car which was later dumped in the canal.

Police said the motive was likely to have been a jealous love affair allegedly involving Mr Santi.
