The manufacturing production index in December dropped a more than expected 2.44% from a year earlier, according to figures released by the Industry Ministry on Wednesday.
It was dragged down by lower production of petroleum, sugar and rubber, the ministry said.
The reading compared with a forecast fall of 1.2% in a Reuters poll.
