St. Louis engineering and technology company Emerson will establish a new manufacturing facility in Northeast Arkansas, state officials announced.
Emerson said the forthcoming Ash Flat, Arkansas, factory will operate under its “tools and home products” segment and make products for the electrical, mechanical, and plumbing markets.
Company officials noted that the new plant will be located near its Memphis-area distribution facility and will help reduce shipping lead times, improve customer service, optimize its operations, and provide opportunities for growth. The company also cited Ash Flat’s available workforce and proximity to customers.
The $35 million project is expected to create about 245 new jobs within four years. State officials said nearby Ozarka College and Black River Technical College would develop a workforce training program with Emerson to meet the company’s specific needs.
Construction on the facility should begin by the end of the year.
“We are pleased that company leadership has chosen Ash Flat as the site of its new facility, and we look forward to a long and successful partnership,” Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson said in the announcement.
