DSV Panalpina opens new office in Oman

Transport and logistics giant DSV Panalpina has opened a new office in Muscat, Oman, as part of its continuing expansion into the Middle East.

Charles Francis, country manager for DSV Panalpina in Oman, Qatar and Kuwait, commented: “Oman has distinct advantages as a trans-shipment hub for Qatar. It has become a pivotal geographical location for cargo flows to and from Qatar.

“Unlike some of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, Oman has not introduced economic sanctions against Qatar and its trade with Qatar has increased by more than three times since the embargo began two years ago.”

In August last year, DSV announced the completion of its acquisition of Panalpina in a deal worth $5.5bn and resulting in the creation of the second-largest airfreight provider in the world (behind DHL).
