Donald Trump brands himself a ‘warrior’ as he visits PPE factory without a mask

Donald Trump described himself as a ‘warrior’ as he visited a factory that makes hospital equipment with no mask on. Addressing workers at the Owens & Minor plant in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on Thursday, the president said: ‘We are all warriors. Everyone in our country is a warrior.

‘We have to because of what happened. It should have never happened. It should have been stopped at the source.’ President Trump had earlier used the term to reply to hospital staff treating the coronavirus outbreak. He has repeatedly refused to wear a mask in public, despite asking other Americans to in a bid to stop the spread of Covid-19.

President Trump’s continued avoidance of masks comes despite two top White House aides testing positive for Covid-19 last week, with Vice President Mike Pence reportedly having to self-isolate because of close contact with one of the patients – his press secretary Katie Miller.

During Thursday’s appearance, Trump – known for his spelling and grammatical gaffes – also took aim at rival Joe Biden for referring to the H1N1 pandemic as N1H1. He blasted former Vice President Biden and President Barack Obama for leaving US stockpiles of medical equipment including ventilators badly-depleted, claiming they’d left the metaphorical cupboard ‘bare.’

And Trump took the chance to trumpet his own achievements with increasing production, saying: ‘Great things are happening with ventilators.’

President Trump spoke as the number of Americans infected passed 1.4million, with over 85,600 killed by Covid-19.
